Celestia Princess Fairy of Sol

Armored Fairy Princess Celestia

Came up with this idea of a custom pony figure to donate to The Traveling Pony Museum after they contacted me offering me the opportunity to send them a custom to have in their traveling display.

Wanted to come up with something that’s based on a new generation pony, and had never done a Princess Celestia custom before and wanted to put her on the spot light.

Also wanted to use one of my giant or styling-sized ponies, so I got out my giant Rarity pony I got at Walgreens which is one of the largest ponies I’ve ever had, standing at 9 inches tall from hoof to top of ear.

Among my most impressive works is my armored customs so decided to showcase Celestia in a outfit theme of fairy armor, for her this could be called “Celestia Sol light Fairy”. Verses the Moonlit fairy, which is an idea I have for Moondancer at some point perhaps….

So that’s the reasoning for this creation.

Stripped off the original paint and hair from Rarity, and painted Celestia’s eyes and sealed them in Artists Varnish.

Then I made her 3-D cutie marks of the sun, 2 for each side of her flank, crafted from gold vinyl, gold metal rhinestones and pearl rhinestones. Ended up fastening them to her fairy armor.

I then prepped the locket trinket I set aside for this project, decided to use it for her and make little drawings of Celestia’s sisters Luna and Cadence and put them inside the locket. Drawings are sketched in pencil, inked in various pen sizes then colored in watercolor pencils blended via dampened Q-tips.

Next, I prepped the wings. Started with cutting the rounded layer out of wax paper as a stencil, then traced it onto transparent plastic fro pony packaging, and a cream fabric with gold stars printed on then glued the fabric to the plastic.

Drew out a more jagged shape for the next layer of wings, and traced it onto white leather. Painted some cobweb trim cream white, glued it over top the plastic. Then layered white feathers on the insides/backs of the wings, and tufts of faux white fur on the outsides with plumes of white feathers at the bases of the fur. Anchored the wings inside the pony with thick wire.

Mane & tail- Ordered custom blended hair.

Aqua section is atomic turquoise blended with bobby blue nylon mlp hair from Dollyhair, and a goose green from RetrodollsUS.

Purple section is nylon mlp dollyhair in a custom blended of mulberry crush with stormy sky gray, then pink section is also nylon mlp DH hair in custom blend of raspberry sorbet with sunset.

Mane lightly curled with my hair gel method, with pale yellow and white ribbons tying the hair in place, trinkets of a Pegasus and locket adorn.

Attire- started with Celestia’s original simple armor. Cut her crown, chest piece and hoof armor from gold faux vinyl. Embellished all the pieces with rhinestones then designed the rest of the outfit around her original armor.

Went with a jagged wing-shaped detail on her front legs cut from silver faux vinyl, attached to pleats of the cream fabric with gold star print. Finished these pieces with some off-white lace.

Stitched some wide yellow sheer ribbon on the tops of the legs, fastened X’d pale gray strips of leather overtop.

Cut a jagged design from silver faux vinyl, layered it along top of the chest piece. Embellished in more rhinestones, put a layer of white lace above it with golden rope trim stitched on. Stitched floral, pearl and glass leaf beads on both ends of the white lace.

Skirts- started with stitching a underlayer of pale aqua lace material then stitched pale lavender 2 strips of white sheer materials.

Took some pale green velvet material and cut general leaf shapes, hemmed the edges with gold ribbon trim. Cut long triangular pieces from faux silver alligator-print vinyl for flank armor, stitched the 3-D sol cutie marks over top then stitched strings of gold and yellow beads. Stitched more of the green glass leaf beads at the tips with green hemp cord tied. Added yellow transparent plastic squares to finish.

Velvet leaf layer has under-layer of aqua cobweb trim with strings of pearl and glass antique beads stitched along the bottom then silver hoop beads to finish.

Added some large aurora-colored rhinestones around the tail base with a white cloud bead and a long aqua bead strung on floral wire to accent.

Mane/crown embellishments are huge antique pearl and stone beads strung on heavy wire then pinned in place with some faux flowers, sheer lavender lace and silver beads.

Lastly, extended her crown down her forehead with a strip of acorn-colored leather with rhinestones Krazy glued on, then made another string of the yellow and gold beads on floral wire, fastened it below the leather then made a string of white pearl beads on floral wire to go around the base of the horn.
