Description

Steampunk Glittering Gem

----SOLD----

Generation 1 My Little Pony Glittering Gem redesigned as a generation 3 custom pony figure in steampunk theme.

Pony base is an engineered pose from two different generation 3 ponies. Body of a rearing skater pose and head of a core 7 clone pose Pinkie Pie.

Cut the wings off of another generation 3 pony and pinned them to the body.

Full body repaint job in custom hand-blended acrylics, in bright candy tuft pink, a neutral pink gloss, and baby pink.

Eyes hand-painted in my fusion style but with colors and general features true to Glittering Gem’s original generation 1 design.

Cut a hole on the flank for a 3-D cutie mark to inset a painted heart bead, but ended up gluing a large cog in place instead. Wired her striped heart cutie mark to the cog so it’s dangling, and embellished with other beads.

Mane and tail are re-rooted in pale pink/white, yellow and bright pink tinsel hair, all recycled from older original ponies. Made a yellow lock of yellow dyed mohair as a hair extension to craft Glittering Gem’s original hair accessories onto.

(Two hair barrettes are oval shaped, lined with lace and ribbons and read “I luv you” on them and are in the colors aqua and pink. All pieces hand-stitched together.)

Accessories and embellishments-

Started with the hind legs. Layered textiles of beige real leather with suede side out, as the under piece. Layered a nice thin golden beige vinyl material over top, stitched some greenish brown hemp cord bows, and layered peach and white ribbon lace trim at the tops, finished with a pink clock at the bottom.

Back- Layered a large white piece of lace with off-white cream cobweb trim underneath, stitched the white heart lace on the sides. Two thin strips of cream straps layered over top and danging.

Hand-stitched 3 pleated ruffly layers of golden beige velvet for a partial skirt on the side of her other flank, lined the top hem of with a strip of yellow velvet ribbon, and detailed it with a line of cream-colored braided rope.

Embellished the skirt with a string of beads- long beads, real turquoise leafs, and plastic & glass beads to finish. Pinned some painted metal peach and orange roses around the tail base.

Repeated the peach and white lace trim around the neck, then took a strip of the thin golden beige vinyl but with a strip with eyelets on it and stitched off white lace at the bottom.  Detailed with piece of antique chain jewelry stitched in place at the front.

On the back of the side near the wing, I stitched a glass heart-shaped bottle in place of which I filled with red glitter and tiny black beads. Krazy glued the cork in place. Stitched store bought steampunk trinkets around the bottle, a gold key and a chain with neutral blue, white pearl and a heart locket dangling.

Front leg textile details-

Use a base layer of orange webbed lace, stitched peach wide ribbon to the backs. Stitched white eyelet ribbon trim along the tops, cream cobweb trim on the right leg, greenish brown hemp cords detailing the other leg. Did a cross layer of pale beige thin real leather strips at the tops. White heart shaped clock pinned on the one leg, a cluster of steampunk cogs and beads wired together and stitched in place on other leg.

Stitched several layered chains along the bare side of the neck, pinned a large cog under wing.

Crafted a few strands of beads for the head, strung them on floral wire.

Rhinestone detailing on the forehead and along the pink clock.
